Practice Q & A
Golf Practice Questions:
How should someone new to golf practice?
First of all, take a lesson from a qualified Professional, preferably an LPGA or PGA Professional ( technically- a golf pro can be anyone who makes money from the game of golf, they may not have good teaching skills, many people aren't aware of that). Ask around or better yet find your Pro from the LPGA or PGA, or PGA Women's Golf Clinics website. After you have taken your lesson a practice session should follow the guidelines from your instruction. Early on more of your time should be spent with shorter (more lofted clubs and your putter). I always tell my students the order of improving your golf game is:
1) contact
2) direction
3) distance.
By working on more short shots first you can better feel and hear that solid contact (pop or click) hitting chip shots or wedges. Then learn to aim and pay attention to where the ball is traveling in relation to the target. Finally, what do I need to do to start to hit the ball farther, of course by now using longer clubs with less loft.
